The Haven provides short-term, early-intervention emotional wellbeing and mental health support for children and young people aged 10–18 years (up to 25 years for young people with SEND, where appropriate).

During The Haven Support Session, young people can talk things through with a mental health support worker, use practical resources, and build their own mental health toolbox to take away.
Short-term, early-intervention emotional wellbeing and mental health support for children and young people aged 10–18 years (up to 25 years for young people with SEND, where appropriate).
The Haven Support Session offers a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space to talk things through with a mental health support worker.

Those whose current need is support to maintain mental wellbeing through effective prevention and promotion strategies. The Haven primarily supports young people within the i-THRIVE ‘Getting Advice’ and ‘Getting Help’ needs-based groupings.

Once The Haven Support Session and the follow-up session have been completed, we will discuss the most appropriate next steps for each young person.
This may include self-help resources, communication with other professionals, referral to another BeU Swindon service or signposting to external agencies where appropriate.

Change can and does happen
These cases may require support from the Emergency Department, 999 services or CAMHS. We regularly conduct interface meetings with CAMHS.
We recognise occasions when a young person attending our service requires a higher level of support and needs to be stepped up to more specialist services. Where this is identified, it will be discussed with the young person and their parent, carer or family as required, and we will support them with the appropriate next steps.
Please note:
The Haven provides short-term, out-of-hours emotional wellbeing and mental health support. It is intended to offer timely, early-intervention support and is not designed to provide ongoing or long-term mental health treatment.
The Haven primarily supports young people within the i-THRIVE ‘Getting Advice’ and ‘Getting Help’ needs-based groupings, where appropriate onward referrals will be made for services beyond this support.
Urgent Help
The Haven is not a crisis or emergency service.
If a young person is at immediate risk of harm, is experiencing a mental health crisis, or requires urgent mental health support, please call 999, contact NHS 111 and select option 2, or attend your nearest Urgent Care or Emergency Department.
“I was listened to and my thoughts and feelings were really taken into consideration.” Here is what young people and parents/carers have told us about The Haven.
I like the room, the colourful rug and the fidgets and the weighted teddy. The mental health support worker was easy to talk to, and I liked making the mental health toolbox.
